Zoë

February 2021

Another queen of hoarding eggs. She and Trailer can be found stealing and laying on eggs together often. She was found roaming around in Chester, NH. An amazing individual brought her in, but her flock would not accept her. We happily accepter her, and the other retired ladies did as well. Zoë is a seabright.

Chicky

June 2020

Chicky was surrendered with her brother Zorro, who was unfortunately taken by a hawk in late 2021. Chicky is now the smallest hen at the rescue. She is mouthy, fast, and great at escaping the coop. Chicky is an OE bantam.

Pom Pom

December 2020

Pom Pom was an accidental hatch at the rescue*. Her mother is Reece (who was a beautiful Seabright and was taken by a hawk. Her father is my OG rooster, Truck (RIP). Although Reece is her biological mother, Trailer was the one who hatched her and raised her of her own. You can catch her with the other two hens stealing eggs and trying to hatch all of the babies. Pom Pom is a silkie/Seabright.

Michelle

September 2021

Michelle was part of an existing flock, but was the only survivor after a raccoon attack and a bobcat attack. Her owners decided it was best to no longer have chickens. She was handled by children her entire life and is very friendly. She is the first in line to free-range and will happily eat any snack you may have in your hand. I am not sure of her breed, but she is a black chicken.

Marshmallow

May 2020

Marshmallow also came from the Northfield, MA farm. She often has respiratory issues, so we are constantly treating her. She is a white ameraucana and lays a blue egg.

Thelma

May 2020

Thelma also came from the Northfield, MA farm - where we have rehomed over 60 hens. She can be found with her twin, Louise. She is a barred rock.

Louise

Thelma also came from the Northfield, MA farm - where we have rehomed over 60 hens. She can be found with her twin, Thelma. She is a barred rock.

Potato Chip

February 2022

Potato Chip was rescued with 10 more flock maters when the run and coop they were living in started to collapse due to snow. She was named by my husband, who also added her to his favorite's list. She is a buff and has a blue band.

Madonna

February 2022

Madonna was rescued with 10 more flock maters when the run and coop they were living in started to collapse due to snow. She also wants babies all of the time. She took in two baby chicks who were part of a classroom hatch, who now live in our bachelor flock. She is a sussex.

Willow

September 2022

Willow came in with her flock friend, Red. Willow was not being accepted by her flock and her owners wanted her to be happy and live somewhere she can be accepted. She is a buff and has a purple band.

Hen-rietta

February 2022

Hen-rietta was rescued with 10 more flock maters when the run and coop they were living in started to collapse due to snow. She looks like many of the other hens, but has a blue band. She is a RIR and has a blue band.

Finster

May 2020

Finster also came from the Northfield, MA farm - where we have rehomed over 60 hens. She can be found with her twin, Thelma. She is a barred rock. She is a white ameraucana.

Lana

September 2022

Lana also came from the Northfield, MA farm, but because she and her buddy were being picked on. She is great at escaping her run, but will most likely tuck herself in elsewhere because she cannot find her way back in. Every night I go for a hunt to find her, then put her on her roost. She is a RIR and does not have a band.

Loni

September 2022

Loni also came from the Northfield, MA farm, but because she and Lana were being picked on. She is a RIR and does not have a band.

Lucy*

Lemon

November 2022

Lemon was added to the flock with 12 other hens in November of 2022. She was part of a larger flock owned by a friend, but they were in need to downsize. She is an ameraucana silkie with no feathers on her feet.

Weeny was added to the flock with 12 other hens in November of 2022. She was part of a larger flock owned by a friend, but they were in need to downsize. She is a brownish reddish bantam and I have an amazing video of my husband holding her as I drove up the driveway.

Franny

November 2022

Franny was added to the flock with 12 other hens in November of 2022. She was part of a larger flock owned by a friend, but they were in need to downsize. I am not sure what breed she is, but she is white with a black neck and tail.

DD

November 2022

Oh, DD. She has quite the story. I saw on a local Facebook page that there was a hen living outside someone's house. I decided to attempt to catch her, which failed me three times. Finally, I was able to get her home because some sweet lady was able to catch her and was holding her when I went back for a fourth time.

It turns out DD was my friend's chicken, who lives nearby, but she was a wanderer. She wound up roosting at a neighbors house, then eventually continued her adventure.

Thankfully there were some amazing people who lived in the area who fed her and made the posts about her. We have a great story online about her. She is a RIR with a white band.

Pinkie Pie

December 2022

The SWEETEST hen we have here! I feel this little gal would rather hang with humans all day than be bothered by chickens.

You can catch Pinky Pie at my doorstep trying to come in, trying to escape when I open the door, or nuzzled into me.

Honestly, her owners handled her so much and I am so blessed she joined us in December of 2022.

She is a RIR and we do not need to band her because she runs over for a hug ever morning so we know who she is.

Henriette (the second)

June 2023

Henrietta and 5 others were a flock that was included with a house purchased down the street. Their amazing new owners had so much fun with them, but wanted to travel more and had a hard time finding chicken sitters.

They reached out and I happily took them in. She is the loudest one and very in charge.

Unnamed Three

June 2023

Six hens were a flock that was included with a house purchased down the street. Their amazing new owners had so much fun with them, but wanted to travel more and had a hard time finding chicken sitters.

They reached out and I happily took them in. I am still working on names and figuring out who is who.

*An accidental hatch is rare, but upon returning from a week-long trip I stumbled upon a broody hen with partially developed eggs. Due to this, I let her hatch them.
