Abandoned Chickens

If you found an abandoned chicken, first ensure your safety and the chicken's by approaching slowly and calmly. Check the area for any signs of distress, injury, and others. If you believe this chicken was abandoned, attempt to catch the chicken. If you are unable to, go back at night and look up in the trees. Also look on the ground for poop as they tend to poop most while they sleep.

Next, post on your local social media pages and community boards to see if anyone is missing a chicken. If you are near houses and feel safe, knock on doors to see if anyone is missing a chicken. They will wonder, but not far from their food sources and coop.

If you're unable to locate the owner, consider reaching out to local rescues for assistance. You can find a list of sanctuaries here. Remember to provide the chicken with food, water, and a safe shelter while you search for a solution.
