Rehoming Chickens

We are at Capacity, but Here to Help

We are currently at capacity and unable to take in additional roosters or hens at this time. That said, we’re always happy to be a resource and help guide you toward safe, responsible options.

A Quick Note Before Rehoming

Chickens form routines, bonds, and a strong sense of place. Rehoming - especially for roosters - can be very stressful and often happens multiple times before they find a permanent home.

NEVER abandon or “drop off” chickens.

This almost always leads to injury, predation, or slow suffering.

If you’re considering surrender, please take a moment to review the other resources on this page first. There may be options that allow your bird to stay where they are.

Rooster Picking on Hens

Too Many Roosters

If rehoming is truly the best option, the rescues listed below may be able to help. Please contact them directly, as space is limited and constantly changing.

If you are transporting chickens across state lines, be aware that some states require health certificates or have specific regulations. It’s your responsibility to check local requirements to ensure the safety of your birds and existing flocks.

If you notice any updates, closures, or know of a rescue that should be added, please let me know so this list can stay accurate and helpful.

Please note, we prioritize safety and well-being, and therefore, we do not support rotating flocks, rehoming hatched hens or roosters, and other situations we find do not line up with our mission.

Additionally, we do not allow them to cross state lines during the rehoming process.

If we are unable to take your chicken in and you do not have luck with the list above, we may be able to post them to our list of available chickens. Each chicken that is rehomed through our efforts will be in accordance with our mission and guidelines to ensure they find a suitable and loving home.
